Macizo Coffee Co. was born from a deep love for coffee, culture, and community. The word “Macizo” is a Honduran slang term used to describe something truly exceptional—something well done, impressive, and full of impact. It perfectly represents what this brand stands for: high-quality coffee, a welcoming space, and a celebration of Honduran heritage.

I was born in Honduras, a country where coffee is not just an industry but a way of life. Honduras consists of 18 departments (states), 16 of which produce coffee, making it the backbone of both the economy and culture. Coffee is more than just a drink—it is a livelihood, a history, and a legacy passed down through generations of farmers who dedicate their lives to cultivating some of the world’s finest beans.

My journey with coffee began when I was a child, sharing a cappuccino with my dad in our usual coffee shop, a simple yet powerful ritual that planted the seed of my passion. That love only deepened over the years, leading me to the unforgettable moment when I pulled my very first espresso shot. Since then, I have spent over seven years working in barismo, management, customer service, and coffee education. Throughout my career, I have remained dedicated and passionate about providing a unique experience in every single cup. But more than that, I am a true believer in coffee’s power to change lives and create communities.

That belief is what led to Macizo Coffee Co., a dream that is now coming to life. While we are still working on securing the perfect space, Macizo will soon open its doors in Pittsburgh as a place where coffee lovers, the Latinx community, and those seeking a new experience can come together. It’s not just about serving great coffee, but about honoring its roots and sharing the passion of the people behind it.
